Every 4th of July, Grand Rapids host a giant firework display over the Grand River for the city. I went once in 2009 when I first moved to Grand Rapids, but it was crowded and loud and I never had interest to go back. This year rolled around and Chris and I decided to give it a shot with Ana. I got smart and had Chris pull the stroller that we rarely use out of the basement, just in case Ana didn't want to walk however far we were going to have to walk after we parked.
I'm a genius.
It was so busy, there was barely enough shoulder room for people to walk. So even though Ana has perfectly capable legs, we stuck her in that bad boy and we didn't have to worry about her getting caught up in the crowd or stepped on. Double bonus? It made a seat for her to see over people's heads if she wanted.
Which she didn't.
Ana can be the loudest little minger in the world, but she does NOT like loud noises. So she spent the entire show bouncing between laps having her ears covered. Next time, my list of genius ideas is going to include ear muffs.
Amway put on one hell of a show and I'm super glad we moved one bridge back to the pedestrian bridge further away from where they were shooting off the fireworks. It was more family friendly and I think being that close to the loud bangs and the smoke would have made Ana's, and consequently everyone else's experience, pretty damn dreadful!
One thing I'm thinking about getting is one of those strollers that have the seat for babies and then the spot for bigger kids, so when baby gets here, we can have the same awesome kind of time getting to events as we did this time. So.
